Southside High School Boys’ Bowling Team Takes State Championship: Northside High School Makes History with First College Bowling Signing
Fort Smith, Arkansas - February 8, 2024. On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the Southside High School Boys’ Bowling team took home first place in the 6A State Championship in Cabot, AR. Freshman bowler Carter Traywick finished as the top bowler in the state with a three-game total of 724, averaging 241 per game. Tadd Stewart coaches the Southside High School Maverick bowling team.
Additionally, Northside High School’s Max Howerton became the first student at Northside to receive a college bowling scholarship. Howerton will attend Kansas Wesleyan University after he graduates this Spring. Howerton also competed at the state championship on Wednesday, placing third in the state.
High school bowling offers students a pathway to believe in their potential, a sense of belonging within a supportive community, and opportunities to become the best version of themselves athletically, academically, and personally.
