FSPS Fills Several Key Administrative Positions
Fort Smith Public Schools has filled the following key administrative positions. Congratulations to these outstanding leaders as they begin these new assignments within the district.
Dr. Christopher Davis, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Campus Support
Dr. Christopher Davis will serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Campus Support for Fort Smith Public Schools. Dr. Davis has served as the district’s Supervisor of Human Resources since 2019. Read more about Dr. Davis’ appointment on the FSPS Website.
Dr. Tony Jones, Director of Secondary Education
Dr. Tony Jones will serve as the Director of Secondary Education for Fort Smith Public Schools. Dr. Jones has served as principal at Belle Point Center since 2018. Prior to his appointment at Belle Point, Dr. Jones served as assistant principal at Northside High School, and assistant principal at Kimmons Junior High School. He began his career as an educator at Northside High School. Dr. Jones holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, and M.Ed in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University, and a B.A. in Sociology Education from Berea College in Kentucky. Dr. Jones is a graduate of Northside High School and attended Spradling Elementary School and Kimmons Junior High School.
“I am humbled to serve as the Director of Secondary Education. I look forward to supporting each secondary campus in reaching higher levels of excellence,” said Dr. Jones.
Jennifer Steele, Assistant Director of Athletics & Activities
Jennifer Steele will serve as the Assistant Director of Athletics & Activities for Fort Smith Public Schools. Ms. Steele has served as assistant principal at Northside High School since 2013. Prior to her appointment at Northside, Steele served as the director of bands at Chaffin Junior High School. Steele holds a B.M.E. in Music Education from Georgia Southern University, a M.E.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University.
“I am excited to join Coach Beaumont and his staff in this new role in the Athletics & Activities Department,” said Steele.
Laura Gladden, Principal of Ballman Elementary School
Laura Gladden will serve as principal of Ballman Elementary School. Gladden has served as Ballman and Bonneville assistant principal since 2018. Prior to her appointment at Ballman and Bonneville, Gladden served as an instructional facilitator in the district, elementary and middle school teacher in Van Buren, Arkansas, and elementary and middle school teacher in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Gladden holds an M.A. in Education from Western Carolina University, a B.S. in Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and several program of study certifications from Arkansas Tech University and Arkansas State University.
“I am honored to transition into this new role at Ballman and to continue my service within the district,” said Gladden.
Ami Griggs, Principal of Fairview Elementary School
Ami Griggs will serve as principal of Fairview Elementary School. Griggs has served as Fairview assistant principal since 2019. Prior to her appointment at Fairview, Griggs served as Literacy Instructional Facilitator for Ballman, Bonneville, Fairview and Morrison Elementary Schools and as a teacher at Euper Lane Elementary School. Griggs holds an M.Ed in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, a M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Arkansas Tech University and a B.S. in Education from the University of Central Arkansas.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the students and families of Fairview in this leadership role,” said Griggs.
Nicole Shaffer, Principal of Cook Elementary School
Nicole Shaffer will serve as the principal of Cook Elementary School. Shaffer has served as Fairview Elementary School principal since 2019. Prior to her appointment to Fairview, Shaffer served as assistant principal at Cook, Woods and Barling Elementary Schools, as district supervisor of elementary music education. She taught at Sunnymede Elementary School, in Lavaca, Arkansas, and Panama, Oklahoma. Prior to her career in education, Shaffer served as an Executive Officer in the Air Force with the Maintenance Group of the 188th Fighter Wing. Shaffer holds a Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, M.Ed in Educational Leadership, and B.S. in Education from Arkansas Tech University. She also holds an M.Ed in Physical Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
“I have greatly enjoyed my time at Fairview Elementary School and look forward to continuing my service to the district at Cook Elementary School,” said Shaffer.
