FSPS Return to School Information December 31, 2021

FSPS Families and Employees,

We hope that you have enjoyed your holiday break! As we look toward the beginning of classes on Jan. 4, it is important to note that we are monitoring the increasing COVID infection rates state-wide. When students return to school on Jan. 4, masks will be strongly recommended, but optional. The same will be true for teachers and other district employees who will be working on the Jan. 3 Teacher Workday. This day is dedicated to preparing individual classrooms. There are no plans for any large group gatherings on this day.

CDC on the Omicron Variant: What You Need to Know

The CDC continues to recommend wearing a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high community transmission, regardless of vaccination status.

The District will continue to observe all other safety protocols including extensive disinfection of all classrooms, district building and touch points throughout the days and weeks ahead, especially during the cold and flu seasons.

Arkansas Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

All Arkansans age 5 or older are now eligible to receive the vaccine.

Families who would like to be considered for the district’s virtual learning option during the spring semester should contact Dr. Samantha Hall (shall@fortsmithschools.org) for information regarding K-5 enrollment, or Dr. Tony Jones (tjones1@fortsmithschools.org) for information regarding 6-12 enrollment. Drs. Hall and Jones will respond to these emails beginning Jan. 3.
