Fort Smith Schools Students Receive NCWIT Awards
Several Fort Smith Public Schools students have received the 2022 Aspirations in Computing Award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).
The Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) recognizes 9th-12th grade students for their computing-related achievements and interests. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and interest in IT and computing, solid leadership ability, good academic history, and plans for post-secondary education.

“I am very proud of Courtney. She has worked hard for this recognition. I know she has a very bright future and I am excited to see all that she accomplishes,” said Dr. Keri Rathbun, Principal of Northside High School.
“I am so proud of these students. Their hard work and diligence have been rewarded with the achievement of this honor. This is exactly what we mean when we say ‘Be More Maverick’,” said Jeff Prewitt, Principal of Southside High School.
“Courtney has been an absolutely phenomenal student to work with. I'm so proud of her for pursuing this award and receiving the recognition she deserves,” said Zachary Coats, Computer Science Teacher, Northside High School.
"I am so proud of these strong young ladies and the impact that technology has made on their lives. It makes me so excited to think about the future and what incredible things they can accomplish. Teaching these incredible ladies has truly been a pleasure,” said Gina Lewis, Computer Science Teacher, Southside High School.
