Southside High School Senior Earns Associate’s Degree Through Peak Innovation Center
Southside High School senior Daniel Hernandez Donato graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith on May 13, 2023, five days before he received his high school diploma. Daniel earned his Associate's Degree in Network Engineering Technology through the Western Arkansas Technical Center program at the Peak Innovation Center.
"I was able to walk and graduate from UAFS with an Associates Degree in Network Engineering Technology and a technical certificate almost a full week BEFORE my actual high school graduation. The two years I spent at Peak were some of, if not the best, two years of classes that I've had. I'm thrilled to be a part of the community and would love to visit again to see how it continues to develop. I'm very thankful for the amazing ways our school district is growing to give students like me these wonderful opportunities that will help shape our futures in ways we can't even imagine yet," said Daniel.
Daniel is the second student in the Fort Smith Public Schools district and the first from Southside High School to receive his degree at the same time as his high school diploma. Northside High School graduate Lunk Monk, class of 2022, was the first in the district to earn his associate's degree in Unmanned Aerial Systems.
