Fort Smith Public Schools announces New Student Registration and open enrollment for kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year begins Monday, April 3, 2023. 

To begin enrollment, parents/guardians should visit the FSPS website, www.fortsmithschools.org, where they can click on the “Families” main menu tab, followed by the “Enroll Your Student” page. Parents/guardians can enroll a student on this page by clicking on the "2023-24 School Year New Student Registration" tab and then clicking the “Register Your Kindergarten or New Student for 2023-24 School Year” link (in blue). Kindergarten and New Student Registration Overview

Beginning April 3, 2023, parents/guardians wishing to enroll a new student or kindergarten-age child should use the school’s online registration process, provided by “PowerSchool,” a state-provided online registration service used by FSPS. The online registration portal opens on April 3, 2023, and remains open until June 1, 2023. The online portal closes on June 2, 2023, and remains closed until late July 2023. School administrative office assistants will be available to help any parent or guardian who still needs assistance.

Parents/guardians who do not have internet services or devices at home can use an alternative registration process at the school. Parents may obtain a district device at their child’s school if needed and request assistance with the enrollment process while at the school. Completed registrations receive a registration time stamp that is utilized if class sizing becomes necessary.

Please note kindergarten is mandatory for all children in the state of Arkansas who will be five years of age on or before August 1, 2023, unless parents or guardians file a kindergarten waiver with the Student Services Department of Fort Smith Public Schools. Children not attending kindergarten will be tested to determine if they will be placed in kindergarten or first grade upon entering school. All preschool students who attended one of the Fort Smith Public School District preschool programs must complete the Kindergarten Registration process.
